Welcome to one girl's nightmare...

This is the twisted brainchild of J.J. Keeling. Let me ramble a bit about myself.

I'm from the South, where we don't hide our crazies in the attic, but set them on the porch to greet people. That's kinda like what I'm doing here. Afraid of the dark? Well, the dark isn't the only thing to be afraid of. Hey, what's that behind you?

I've been writing poetry and short stories since middle school. In more recent years, I'd gotten out of the habit of writing. However, I've been re-bitten by the writing bug. I've now made it my project to start writing again and from that I can branch out into other mediums. Until recently, my short stories have been something I've only shared with a few close friends. Well, I've been encouraged to share my stories with the world and so that is my new goal. I'll start with sharing my writing, which I may then turn into a podcast. After I get the hang of that, I'll probably spread out into short films and then feature movies, which has been my lifelong dream. It's a more logical progression than jumping headlong into the gaping maw of don't-know-what-the-hell-I'm-doingstein.

Writing, for me, has always been a bit of a compulsion. If I'm not writing in a blog somewhere, I'm writing poetry. If it's not poetry, it's an essay, a comedic blurb, or a short story. This year, I'm once again entering the NaNoWriMo in an attempt to write longer fiction. I figure if I'm compelled to write, I might as well try to make something out of it. Maybe I'll even start submitting my work for publication. My friends and family tell me I'm good, but we all know they're probably more than a little biased.

I've tried writing several different genres, but no matter what I try to write, it usually winds up becoming horror at some point. I tried to write a love story once, but the hero was a vampire and his lady love kept killing people during psychopathic blackouts. I tried writing children's fiction, but the heroine wound up being kidnapped by demons that her parents summoned by accident. I tried writing a heartwarming tale of forgiveness in a friendship gone wrong, but it wound up turning into a magical duel to the death. I guess I just wasn't built for anything but the scare. I was born to frighten.

On this website, I'll share some of my writing as well as my progress on various stories (flash fiction, short stories, novellas, and novels). I'm always open to suggestions and constructive criticism. I love feedback, which is something that writers often don't get enough of. I've got a forum where you can leave comments if you'd like. You'll have to register because we've had quite the attack of the spam zombies and it's become necessary to restrict posting to real people. But I encourage you to join in the fun. The more, the merrier! And besides, there's safety in numbers, right?
